Lena is a bell-shaped cup that collects your monthly menstrual blood. Inserted like a tampon, Lena sits comfortably in your vagina and offers a leak and sensation-free period. Lena helps maintain a healthy pH level so you can stay naturally moist and comfortable. Lena’s flexible design moves with you and offers complete protection and comfort. You can dance, run, swim, ride a bike, and use your cup overnight, and you can wear your Lena Cup for up to 12 consecutive hours day & night. The classic Lena Cup Turquoise has a gentle firmness to allow the cup to open during insertion and move with your body during wear. It is FDA-approved and has gone through full biocompatibility testing.

Most people can use either size Lena Cup but choose one over the other primarily based on cervix height during menstruation, flow amount, cup experience level, and overall physique. We have found that age and birth history play less of a role in cup sizing. It is recommended that most users begin with the Lena Small which can be easier to learn on and provides the capacity of about 5 regular absorbency tampons.

Your Lena cup will come with usage instructions in the packaging, but you can also find instructions in the “Usage, Tips & Tricks” tab below.

  • How to Clean: Wash with warm water and a mild, unscented, non-antibacterial soap when emptying during your cycle. Before and/or after your period, you can boil your Lena Cup in a small pot on the stove or by using a microwave-safe bowl or mug instead. Cover your cup completely in boiling water for 5 to 7 minutes. Allow the cup to cool completely before handling it, and allow the cup to dry completely before storing.
  • How to Store: Ensure your cup is completely dry, inside and out, then store it in the cotton bag that came with the cup in a dry place with good airflow.

  • Usage Instructions

Wash your hands with warm water and mild soap before handling your cup.

At the beginning of your period, take your Lena Cup out of the cotton storage bag. You can either wash the cup with a mild, unscented, and non-antibacterial soap or boil your cup in hot water for 5 minutes before inserting it to clean the cup. Allow the cup to cool completely before handling after boiling.

When inserting Lena, find a comfortable position for your body such as sitting on the toilet, standing with one leg on the side of the tub, etc. Once comfortable, fold your cup using one of the three main folds: the 7 Fold, Punch-Down, and the C-fold. Check out the Lena User Guide for more information on how to fold your cup. Relax your body and remember to breathe. Gently take your folded cup and insert it into your vaginal canal. Hold your cup folded until it is inside of your vagina at a comfortable height, beneath your cervix – this can take some practice.

Allow the cup to open completely and gently seal in place against your vaginal walls. You can gently try to pull on the stem or rotate the cup without squeezing the base to test the suction seal. Once sealed in place, you should feel some resistance and your cup should not move.

Once you are ready to remove your cup, wash your hands with warm water and mild soap. Get your body in a comfortable position - some people find that the same position that works well for insertion works well for removal, however some find that not to be the case. Squatting can be beneficial for removal but is not recommended for insertion as squatting naturally encourages your body to naturally bear down.

Relax your body and gently insert your fingers into your vagina to locate the base of your Lena Cup. Gently bearing down can help to naturally move your cup lower making it easier to reach.

Once you grab the base of your cup, gently pinch the bottom in order to release the gentle suction seal.

Holding the base of the cup, shimmy your cup from side to side while guiding it out of your body. Keep your cup upright and do not squeeze too firmly to avoid spills.

Empty your cup and wash using a mild, unscented, non-antibacterial soap and warm water. Once your cup is clean, you can re-insert your cup immediately.

Learning how to effortlessly use your Lena Cup can take some time, patience, and practice. For some users this can take a couple of cycles but once mastered, using your Lena cup will feel natural and easy.

  • Tips for Use: Use your Lena Cup during menstruation. You can insert your cup when you expect your cycle to start or at the onset of bleeding. Your Lena Cup can be inserted for 12 consecutive hours at a time, and you should remove, empty, and clean your cup at least every 12 hours at a time before reinserting your cup as needed. Water can be used to help with insertion if needed, but it is not recommended to use lube for insertion.
